Zoning for Gentle Density
Burien Village was approved through the City of Burien’s Affordable Housing Demonstration Program (AHDP)—a visionary pilot created by city planners, the Planning Commission, and City Council.
This zoning pathway allows for a clustered village of small cottages within a traditionally single-family neighborhood, demonstrating how gentle density can expand housing access while respecting neighborhood scale and character.
